02 / KEY CONTROLS
Know what each setting changes.
Single or tiled
A single mark suits a corner label; tiled marks are useful for draft or internal-use context.
Layer and contrast
Keep the mark legible without hiding source text. Lower opacity is usually safer for dense pages.
Page targeting
Apply to all, a range, odd or even pages, or exclude selected pages when covers need a clean layout.

Watermark type and source
- Purpose and impact
- Chooses editable text or an uploaded image.
- Default / valid options
- Text (default) with preset/custom text, or PNG/JPEG/WebP image.
- Prerequisite / dependency
- A PDF must be loaded; image mode needs a supported image file.
- Recommendation and use case
- Use short text such as CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT; use a transparent PNG for logos.

Layout
- Purpose and impact
- Chooses one movable mark or a repeated tiled pattern.
- Default / valid options
- Single (default) or Tiled; tiled density 2-6 columns, default 3.
- Prerequisite / dependency
- Tiled mode hides the position grid and exposes density.
- Recommendation and use case
- Use Single for a corner status label; Tiled for draft/internal-use context.

Position
- Purpose and impact
- Places a single watermark at an anchor or custom drag position.
- Default / valid options
- Nine anchors: corners, edges and centre; default centre; custom drag position.
- Prerequisite / dependency
- Only available in Single mode; preview must be rendered before dragging. Tiled mode ignores position.
- Recommendation and use case
- Start at bottom-right or centre-right, away from existing text.
CONTROL
Size, opacity and rotation
- Purpose and impact
- Controls footprint, visual strength and angle.
- Default / valid options
- Size 8%-70% (default 28%); opacity 5%-100% (default 24%); rotation -90° to 90° (default -35°).
- Prerequisite / dependency
- Large size or high opacity can cover source text.
- Recommendation and use case
- Start around 20%-30% size and 15%-30% opacity; use 0° for formal notices.

Layer and style
- Purpose and impact
- Controls whether the mark is above content and how text is styled.
- Default / valid options
- Over (default) or behind content; bold (default) or italic; custom colour, default #b42318.
- Prerequisite / dependency
- Behind-content marks can disappear on opaque page areas. Font style affects text mode.
- Recommendation and use case
- Use Over with low opacity for reliable visibility; keep text short and high contrast.

Page targeting
- Purpose and impact
- Limits the watermark to pages needing the same context.
- Default / valid options
- All (default), range, odd, even or exclude.
- Prerequisite / dependency
- Range/exclude fields appear after choosing that mode; PDF must be loaded.
- Recommendation and use case
- Use All only when status is identical; exclude a clean cover when needed.

Output filename
- Purpose and impact
- Sets the downloaded watermarked PDF filename.
- Default / valid options
- Text ending in .pdf; default source-name-watermarked.pdf.
- Prerequisite / dependency
- Invalid filename characters and path separators are replaced; the name does not affect watermark placement.
- Recommendation and use case
- Keep the source name and add a clear status or revision suffix.
04 / EXPORT CHECKS
Confirm these three things before delivery.
- A watermark communicates handling context; it is not a security control by itself.
- Avoid implying legal ownership or confidentiality beyond your organisation policy.
- Open the exported file to verify that the watermark is readable and not covering key content.
